Teen 'critical' after motorcycle crash

A 16-year-old boy is in a critical condition after his motorcycle crashed into a parked van on the Gold Coast on Sunday.

Police said the boy was thrown off the bike and into the van's rear window at The Panorama, at Tallai, about 12.15am (AEST).

A police spokesman said the boy was fighting was his life at the Gold Coast Hospital where he was being treated for serious head injuries.

Police will investigate whether speed was a factor in the crash. It was believed the boy had been wearing a helmet, but that it was not fastened.
