Founded in 2006, Think Ahead Brain Injury Prevention Foundation consists of a board of like-minded professionals with experience in dealing with individuals with brain injury.
This management team has come together to focus on the prevalence of
brain injury in Australia which equates to a minimum of 75,000 to 130,000
individuals sustaining mild to severe brain injury annually with the
ultimate
goal of educating the general public in the prevention of
such
an injury.
Think Ahead Brain Injury Prevention Foundation takes
a proactive positive approach in that prevention is better than cure.
Australian society needs to be educated from an early age and should
be made aware that brain injury is a very serious social and medical
health injury
that
directly
impacts
on the social and political economy at a cost of several billion dollars
annually.
People who sustain an brain injury may lose the ability to function as they did prior to their injury. This can also impact on their lives with a loss of family and friends and employment.
